Journaling Fame takes readers inside the turbulent mind and precocious soul of celebrity journalist, Allison Kugel, as she recalls the evolution and fall out from a near paralyzing anxiety disorder while navigating a decade interviewing some of Hollywood’s most famous (and infamous) names. Between numerous celebrity interactions and harrowing memories of youth and adolescents, she attempts to piece together the moments of her life that, both, built her career and fostered severe panic attacks that threatened to undo it all. Allison provides an ultimate insider’s guide into the celebrity journalism and publicity machines that the public doesn’t see, along with shared personal memories of high-profile Hollywood friendships. She pulls no punches when going into excruciating detail about her experiences with anxiety, panic attacks and obsessive compulsive disorder. Her memoir seamlessly weaves in and out of her professional triumphs and personal struggles with self-examination, humor and irony.
For a decade, Allison Kugel was entrenched in the culture of celebrity, as an entertainment, pop culture and political journalist whose work was quoted and re-printed by hundreds of media outlets, worldwide. She is co-founder and co-creator of the Upitch App, the world's first mobile application matching press releases and story pitches with targeted journalists. She is a lifelong philanthropist for various animal and children’s charities. Allison splits her time between Florida and New York with her hilarious son and a willful Shih Ztu.

Grab your coffee or take this one to the beach! A great read to unplug your brain while feeling you are not alone (if you have panic or anxiety). Entertaining, inspiring, genuine and filled with a message of support for anxiety sufferers. Really enjoyed the celebrity interviews and what was running through the author's mind as she met with them. As the Founder of The Wellness Universe, I can relate to Allison Kugel as a go-getter; Busy making things happen on the front side and suffering with anxiety on the backside. An illness that no one would EVER KNOW you had, especially when you are successful. I found 'Journaling Fame' equally entertaining with all of the celebrity interviews and backstories. I laughed out loud, rolled my eyes and gasped. Sharing her detailed accounts with anxiety and stress throughout her real life made me feel like 'Hey, I'm not alone. I'm not crazy!' I applaud her on achieving so much and feel the pain she suffered throughout life. More people need to know they are not alone. Anyone can suffer with anxiety, panic, stress and OCD: men, women, rich, poor... it doesn't discriminate. Thank you for being brave and sharing your story with total rawness. The more I talk to people the more I find prevention is needed MUCH more than we know. It takes a few brave souls like Allison who let the world know "Yea, I'm beautiful, accomplished and successful, but I have this issue..." to inspire others to come out and get the help they need. Thank you. Lots of love and may your journey continue to unfold and your magnificence continue to blossom as you help the world heal.

My attention span isn't what it used to be so I have to really enjoy a book to read it from cover to cover nowadays. This memoir touched on so many emotions for me as someone that has dealt with anxiety issues of her own. I found it to be very entertaining and relatable. I highly recommend it!

From The Book:

Introduction
The question I’ve gotten asked most regarding my journalism career had always been, “How did you get all these famous people to talk to you?” They’re referring to my two hundred published interviews that were conducted by yours truly, over nearly a decade (2005-2014). I think they asked that because I’d managed to operate outside the traditional media fray. I never worked for an A-List publication, never went to school for journalism, and I spent the better part of my first eight years doing interview features for an online newswire that I helped to build and establish from the ground up, before resigning in the summer of 2012.
The reason, I would always tell them…trust. And I would also like to think, talent. But if I had to sum it up in one word, it would be trust. I maintained a stellar reputation of integrity and discretion. People trusted me to tell their stories and also to keep their secrets. I’ve leveraged my interviews into many headlines and notable media mentions over the years, created what the media would refer to as great “scoops,” and I did it all without ever compromising my integrity or breaking my word.
